Ambercombe ist der Startort in Whitmere: Glockenturm mit Firstlaterne, Marktplatz, das Gasthaus The Ninth Bell.
Der Name kommt vom Licht der Firstlaternen, das den Talgrund in der Dämmerung bernsteinfarben macht. Die Glocke wurde 263 BR in Underbell gegossen. Vierzehn aus Ambercombe gingen 31 BR mit der Whitmere Levy. Jeden Abend läutet die neunte Glocke, und niemand fragt, für wen.
Am Tor hängt der Anschlag, mit dem Wardens geworben werden.
