Saltwarden Online

The code: what Saltwarden never does

Saltwarden should keep you through its world and the people in it, not through pressure. These rules apply to every system we build, as binding as the project's legal rules.

Eight rules on how the game holds you

  1. No daily login bonus, no streaks, no counter for missed days.
  2. No reward that is only available for a short time. There are world events, but no reward you can only get there.
  3. No reminder emails and no push notifications unless you have explicitly agreed.
  4. No mandatory quotas in guilds or groups.
  5. Taking a break costs you nothing. Rest builds up while you are away.
  6. Every death is remembered the same way. There is no honour that only a few can get.
  7. Records yes, rewards for them no, rankings in events never. Lists only exist on the website, and they are frozen every week.
  8. Nothing creates value while you are not there. Progress, money and loot come from playing.

What the game will never have

Some of this is familiar from other games. Here it is left out on purpose.

  • Nothing you can buy makes a character stronger. No forced subscription, and no land, no name and no piece of the world for money.
  • No level shortcuts for money, no progress for money, no training while you are offline.
  • No double-experience weekends, no login rewards, no battle pass, no event currency that expires.
  • You lose no items when you die. There is no insurance against death and no item that saves you.
  • One Life has no inheritance: nothing passes from a fallen character to a new one, not even cosmetics.
  • Nothing scales with the number of players. Enemies, respawns and events follow the clock, not how many people are online.
  • No world resets as a rhythm. Once, announced, at the end of the closed alpha, and never again after that.
  • No quest arrows, no flying mounts, no group finder that moves you into the dungeon, no groups across realms.
  • No jumping puzzles, no invisible collectibles, no chest counters.
  • No screen shake on every hit.
  • No characters and no fellow players driven by a language model. Even the flame in your lantern is written, not generated.
  • No matchmaking that is tuned to keep you playing longer.
  • No silent swallowing of your chat lines.
  • No players with moderation rights and no invisible hand of the team. Every intervention is logged, and rewards are never taken back.

If we break a rule

Every new system is measured against these rules before it is built. If you think we are breaking one of them, write to us. What we disclose is on the transparency page.
