Town life, stairs and animals

Harald2 min read

Townsfolk follow the bells, quests can ask for a conversation, cliff stairs are as wide as the road, and animals now live in cellars and yards.

Evening on the Ambercombe village square: villagers with names above their heads, a guard, a well and lanterns along the edge.

Several things went live together today. All of it remains part of the closed alpha, and scope may change.

Townsfolk with a daily routine. For the first time, people in Whitmere, Lanterford Vale and Lanterhall have a day. They work, go to the market, the fountain and the inn, and head home in the evening. The bells set the rhythm. If you look in at different times, you find the same people in different places.

Conversations as quest goals. When a quest asks you to talk to someone, that now shows as its own entry in the dialogue. You hand over or return what is asked, and the counter in the quest log counts along visibly.

Stairs and obstacles. Cliff stairs are now made of stone, as wide as the road, with a landing at the top and the bottom.

Fountains, tents and furniture block again at the size they look. Nameplates of tightly packed enemies stack so each stays readable. Roofless ruins stay dark at night.

Animals in the settlements. Rats and mice run in the cellars of the inns, and mice sit by sacks and barrels in the yards. Critters now also live in Lanterford Vale and Lanterhall. They are small, neutral and do not attack.

Quay at the lock. At the Old Sluice lock the quay now sits at the water on both banks. In Lanterhall the bridges match the road that leads over them.

The closed alpha remains at levels 1 to 15, with human and Ithreni characters and Warrior, Priest and Mage. The status page lists the current scope. Sign up for the waitlist through Join in; places are limited and the alpha is free. The alpha agreement governs how progress is handled.
